Doom, Doom, more Doom, how come it's all the same? Doom 1 and 2
for the PC are the same, Playstation is the same, Saturn, SNES, and
all the other systems that have Doom are the same. But when we get
to Doom 64, it's totally redone. All the monsters, guns, and that stuff
were started from scratch for a complete new look.

This version, by far, has the best graphics we have seen in all the Dooms.
The monsters look like they could be real, but their animations are too
jerky. This game has the creepiest tunes ever to visit the N64. The sound
FX are pretty good, but the humans sound like monsters, and well, they
could have done a better job. This is only a minor factor though.

The control is kind of weird at first, and too sensitive, but once you get
the hang of it, it could be better then a D-pad. Using the Z button to shoot
is also weird at first, but other than that the control is fine. I would
prefer the controls from Turok better, but this is Doom, and there was
no major changes in game play.

Just like the other Dooms, you have to learn how to strafe, dodge bullets,
and learn how to not waste ammo. I have Doom 2 for my PC, and I use all
the codes. I think seeing all these bad guys and trying to figure out the
mazes was fun. When I first rented this game, there was no codes out
for it. So I tried playing with no codes, but I did not get very far. I did
not like this game because there were no codes for it at the time. But I
rented it again, and it rocked! I got all the weapons, passed level 32-
Hectic, and beat that last boss. It was cool! I don't really like shooter
games with out codes.

Over all, this game is fun, especially if you have codes. Those who are
tired of Dooms, don't look for new game play, the only other big thing
new is that there is a new gun and a end boss, the Mother Demon. Notice
how all the other shooter games are compared to Doom? Doom set a new
standard for shooting games, then did it again this year. I did say this
was a standard, not the best. If you are looking for the best shooter for
the N64, I suggest Turok. Those who want a Doom type , well, get Doom 64.
At least rent this game and try it out, it's worth it!

+ Plus: Very good graphics, has that round, 3-D look. A fast paced game, it will keep you playing until you get frustrated with one of the levels! - Minus: The enemy animations are too jerky, not much new stuff. = Equals: A new game, but it's the same old Doom.
